Today was the #birthday of one of Lucien’s best friends. He is a child somewhere in the #autism spectrum, and we spent some time at his house playing and celebrating.

At one point, they were playing table football, a friendly game to 10 points. Lucien was winning by two, then something surprised me.

There's a point in #parenting where the roles reverse, and it becomes a journey of mutual #learning. When my son wanted to bring a notebook to the gym (because this is a thing we've been doing for the last couple of weeks), I instinctively said no, not realizing the depth of his request. I failed to ask the right questions, and he couldn't express his reasons.

In that moment, we were disconnected, me with my #assumptions and him with his #unspoken thoughts. I now see that my growth as a father...

A few days ago we had a school meeting with Lucien's teacher to talk about his #progress.

He's doing great in so many areas like maths, drawing, socially.. but #phonetics is still the same struggle we faced months ago.

A very specific request we received. This is new for us because after a short #winter break, my son started saying that he doesn't want to stay in after-school anymore. I'm not completely sure why 🤔, but he keeps telling us that his brain needs a rest 🧠💭.

During the break, we also spent several days with relatives who are the same age and a bit older 👦👧. It could be that he picked up something from them and the way they spend their time at home, and now he wants something similar for...

This is our second year in school, and halfway through the year they started sending homework from the #UFLI program. Two pages per week — our first real experience with “homework.” But the problem isn’t the homework itself… it’s what it asks for: decoding CVC words, reading, understanding, and even drawing what was understood.

For several weeks we tried to do it, but my son doesn’t understand it, gets frustrated, and loses interest. One day I wrote to the teacher saying we would only do one...

We're visiting #Nicaragua 🇳🇮 — my home country. The trip from Ireland is long, but this change of environment, even if just for a week once a year, feels deeply worth it. And honestly, I think the one enjoying it the most is my son🐣.

Everything here is different. We're surrounded by #family — a big, warm, ever-moving family. It's the simple life of a small town: quiet, humble, but so full of life 🙌. We're staying in a large house with an enormous backyard, trees, plants, dogs, cats, and...

We’ve finally reached that stage where colorful books and #comics become important—or at least interesting. Now, whenever we travel, we always bring along a drawing book, some crayons, and our favorite comic book.

What surprises me the most is that even though he can’t read yet, he sits quietly flipping through the pages, curious about what’s behind the story. We’ve been reading #DogMan by Dav Pilkey, which is fun and keeps him hooked. We usually finish a book in a week or less because he just...

We gifted our child a toy he really cared about, and one day he brought it to after-school to show it proudly, but when he came back home, the toy was ripped off.

We don’t know exactly what happened, it might have been him, or someone else, and the story behind the fact was confused. It’s always difficult to get clear answers with the little man.
