There's a point in #parenting where the roles reverse, and it becomes a journey of mutual #learning. When my son wanted to bring a notebook to the gym (because this is a thing we've been doing for the last couple of weeks), I instinctively said no, not realizing the depth of his request. I failed to ask the right questions, and he couldn't express his reasons.

In that moment, we were disconnected, me with my #assumptions and him with his #unspoken thoughts. I now see that my growth as a father isn't about having all the answers but about asking the right questions. It's about acknowledging that when there's a miscommunication, we're both likely lost in our own ways.

My son needs to learn the art of #expression, and I need to unlearn the habit of assuming. We need to meet in that neutral zone where one seeks understanding and the other dares to explain. True #maturity, I realize, isn't about getting there first but about having the #patience to wait and #listen.
