Welcome to Deeditt. Our Privacy Policy is designed to inform you about how we collect, use, and disclose personal information when you use our website, mobile application, and web application.
Consent
Your Agreement with Us: By accessing or using the Deeditt service, you are indicating your consent to the collection and use of your information in accordance with this policy.
Platform Information and Data Synchronization
Multi-Platform Service: Deeditt operates across multiple platforms including mobile applications and web applications. Each platform uses different underlying technologies but shares the same user database and authentication system.
Cross-Platform Data Synchronization: Your user data is synchronized across all platforms, ensuring that your account information, content, and preferences remain consistent regardless of which platform you use to access Deeditt. Changes made on one platform will be reflected when you refresh or reload content on another platform.
Feature Availability: The web application is currently in its initial release phase, offering core features such as user registration, login, and content browsing. Additional features available on mobile platforms may be introduced to the web version in future updates.
Platform-Specific Limitations: Some features may have different technical capabilities across platforms. For example, web applications may have limited push notification functionality and offline access compared to mobile applications. These technical differences do not affect our data collection and privacy practices.
Information Collection
We collect various types of information for the purpose of enhancing and personalizing your experience on Deeditt. The types of information we collect include:
- Email Addresses: We use your email address to send important notifications, such as app updates or account-related information.
- Usernames: Your username is necessary for identification on the platform and for other users to interact with you.
- Profile Pictures: Your profile picture is an integral part of your identity on Deeditt and is displayed to other users as part of your profile. We do not use your profile picture for any other purposes.
- User Preferences and Interests: We collect information about your preferences and interests to enhance our recommendations and provide you with relevant content.
Memories Data: When using the "Memories" feature, users may enter personal reflections that are securely stored on our servers. Memories entries may include written content, a type selected by the user under the NAMEG format (Note, Action, Mood, Event, Gratitude), timestamps, and related metadata. This data is processed under the same privacy and encryption standards as the rest of your Memories data. It is used exclusively to operate the "Memories" feature and any optional insights services you explicitly enable.
Video Content: When you use the video upload feature, we collect the video files you upload to the platform. These videos are stored in cloud storage services and distributed through content delivery networks (CDNs). All video content is considered public and can be viewed by any user of the platform or by anyone who has direct access to the video link.
Visibility Controls: All user-generated content, including deeds and journeys, now supports customizable visibility settings. These settings allow users to define the intended audience for their content: Public, Community, or Private. Visibility preferences are stored as part of the content's metadata and determine who may access the content both within and outside the platform.
It is important to note that we do not use the collected information for purposes other than those mentioned above. Your privacy and security are paramount to us, and we strive to ensure that your personal information is used responsibly and in accordance with this policy.
Deed and Journey Visibility: Public, Community, and Private Access
Visibility Options: Deeditt allows users to control the visibility of their content through three levels:
- Public: Content is accessible on the internet and may be indexed by third-party search engines.
- Community: Content is only visible to registered users within the Deeditt application.
- Private: Content is visible only to the creator and is not accessible to others.
Inheritance of Visibility: Deeds created inside a journey automatically inherit the visibility setting of that journey unless explicitly changed.
User Responsibility: Users are responsible for selecting the appropriate visibility level. Deeditt is not liable for the unintentional exposure of content due to misconfigured visibility settings.
Indexing Notice: Public content may be indexed by search engines. Once indexed, Deeditt cannot guarantee removal from external platforms even if visibility is later changed or content deleted.
Data of Minors
The safety and privacy of minors are of utmost importance to us. At Deeditt, we are exclusively designed for users aged 18 and above, and we do not collect or request users' birthdates, nor do we perform age verifications. By creating an account, you confirm that you are 18 or older, as our Terms require.
If you become aware that a user does not meet the requirement of being at least 18 years old, we encourage you to promptly notify us through the contact methods provided in the"Contact Us" section of this Privacy Policy so that we can take necessary actions.
Use of Information
The information we collect is used in several ways:
Please note that content marked as global may be visible to the public and subject to indexing by third parties, as detailed in the "Deed Visibility and Public Access" section.
- To provide and maintain our service: We use your data to enable you to access and use Deeditt, which includes managing your account and accessing available features.
- To notify you about changes to our service: We inform you about important updates, enhancements, or changes to our terms and policies to keep you informed of any relevant developments on Deeditt.
- To allow you to participate in interactive features: Some features of our service may require the use of your information, for example, to interact with other users or personalize your experience on the platform.
- To gather analysis or valuable information: We use anonymous and aggregated data to conduct analysis and improvements in our service, ensuring a more enriching user experience.
- To monitor the usage of our service: We monitor activity on the platform to ensure compliance with our policies and to protect the integrity and security of Deeditt and its users.
- To detect, prevent, and address technical issues: We use the collected information to identify and resolve any technical issues that may affect your experience on Deeditt and ensure the smooth operation of the platform.
To provide insights: If you opt into the optional insights feature of "Memories," your reflections, entry types, timestamps, and related Memories metadata may be analyzed to generate a written synthesis of each week, month, quarter and year, the threads (people, projects and themes) that run through them, echoes from earlier entries, and reminder suggestions based on future events recorded in Memories. As part of this analysis, your entries are read to notice the people, projects and themes they mention, and a representation of each entry is kept so that related entries can be found. Names of people and projects are stored encrypted. The feeling, sleep and energy you tap are counted without any model; the synthesis receives them only in words ("most days", "some days"), never as counts. To support this feature, your Memories content may be processed by third-party AI services under strict confidentiality agreements. We do not send your name, email address, username, profile photo, or other direct account-facing identifiers to those AI providers. Removing those identifiers does not make a journal anonymous, and we will not describe it as anonymised: journal writing is made of the specific details that identify a life. That is why this feature is off by default and only runs if you switch it on.
Data Retention: "Memories" data is stored securely for as long as you use the feature. If you request deletion, this data will be immediately removed from active systems and permanently erased from backups within a maximum of two months.
Insights Opt-In/Out: The insights feature for "Memories" is optional and requires explicit user consent. You can enable or disable this feature at any time through your account settings. Disabling it stops future analysis and reminder generation, and it will not impact your access to the "Memories" feature itself.
Automated Analysis Notice: The optional insights feature uses automated analysis and profiling to help surface patterns and reminders within your private Memories data. It is not used to make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
Informational Use Only: Insights, patterns, and reminder suggestions are provided for informational purposes only. They are not medical, mental health, sleep, financial, or professional advice and may be incomplete, inaccurate, or delayed.
These are the specific uses of the collected information, and by providing additional details, users will have a clearer understanding of how their personal data will be used on the platform.
Video Data
Storage and Processing: Videos uploaded to Deeditt are stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) servers and distributed via their content delivery network (CDN). Unlike "Memories" content, videos are not encrypted beyond the SSL protocol used during transfer.
Public Nature: It is important to understand that all videos uploaded to Deeditt are public in nature. This means any user of the platform or anyone with access to the direct link can view your videos.
Metadata Collection: In addition to the video content itself, we also collect technical metadata associated with your videos, such as duration, resolution, format, and file size. This data is used to improve platform functionality and optimize the viewing experience.
Automated Content Analysis: We may use automated technologies to analyze video content for the purpose of detecting prohibited materials, verifying compliance with our policies, and improving content categorization. This analysis is performed without initial human review and does not involve personal identification of users.
Video Removal and Retention: When you delete a video, it is immediately removed from your profile and active systems. However, as with other data, deleted videos may remain in our backup systems for a maximum period of two months before being permanently deleted.
Data Security
Protecting Your Information: Protecting your data is a top priority for us. We employ industry-standard security measures, including data encryption, to safeguard your personal information.
Memories Data Encryption: Data entered in the "Memories" feature is encrypted using advanced encryption standards, both in storage and in transit. Deeditt generates and holds the encryption keys on your behalf. This is server-managed encryption, not end-to-end encryption: because we manage the keys, we are not able to tell you that we are cryptographically incapable of reading your entries. What we can tell you is how access is structured. The encrypted content, the encryption keys, and the credentials required to unlock them are each stored in a different system, so no single system holds everything needed to read your entries, and keys are rotated periodically.
Third-Party Processing of Memories: Memory Insights is an optional feature and is turned off by default. If you choose to enable it, the entries from the relevant period are decrypted and sent to external model providers so that a written synthesis of the week, month, quarter or year can be generated and returned to you, and so that the people, projects and themes they mention can be noticed. What is transmitted is the text you wrote, its dates, and (for the weekly synthesis) the feeling and sleep you recorded, expressed in words rather than counts. Once the people and projects in your entries have been noticed, their names travel with the text as labels, so that a synthesis can speak of them the way you do. No request includes your name, email address, username or account identifier: nothing in it tells the provider whose life it is reading. You can turn this feature off at any time from your Memories settings.
Who processes it: Two providers are involved, each receiving only what its task needs.OpenAI receives the entries of the period and writes the synthesis, and reads them line by line to notice the people, projects and themes they mention.Cohere receives the lines of your entries to compute the numerical representation described above, which is what allows an older entry to be found when it becomes relevant again; it does not receive syntheses and writes nothing.
On training: The API terms under which this content is sent state that it is not used to train the providers' models. That is a commitment those companies make to us, and not something we can verify or enforce on their systems — unlike the encryption described above, which holds regardless of anyone's good faith. What we do control is the request itself: it is sent with the provider's option to store it switched off, so it is not kept in their account history, though their own terms may still allow holding content briefly to monitor abuse. And you control the choice: this feature is off unless you turn it on, and turning it off stops future analysis.
Deed Media (Photos and Videos): Photos and videos attached to deeds are transferred over SSL and delivered through a content delivery network. Unlike "Memories" data, they are not individually encrypted at rest, and their delivery links are long-lived rather than time-limited. Those links are not listed or discoverable, but they are also not revoked when a deed or journey is later restricted or deleted: anyone already holding a direct link may continue to open that file. Restricting visibility removes content from feeds, search, and the API, and is the correct control for who can find your work — but to take a specific photo or video out of circulation, remove it from the deed. We are working to bring deed media in line with the time-limited access already used for Memories images.
User Responsibility: Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials, which are essential for securing access to encrypted data on Deeditt. Together with the separation described above and periodic key rotation, this means an attacker would have to compromise several independent systems rather than any single one.
Online Privacy Policy
Your Privacy Online: This Privacy Policy governs our online services, including our website, mobile application, and web application. It is applicable to all visitors to our site and users of our applications across all platforms, outlining how information is shared and collected within Deeditt.
Payment and Subscription Data
Overview: When you subscribe to one of Deeditt's paid plans, certain personal and payment information is collected and processed to complete your transaction and maintain your subscription.
Data Collected: We collect limited information required to manage your subscription, including:
- Your name and email address (for billing and account association).
- Transaction identifiers, plan type, and payment status.
- Billing country and applicable tax information.
Third-Party Processor: Payments are securely processed through Stripe or other equivalent payment providers that comply with the PCI-DSS security standard. These providers act asdata processors on our behalf. We share only the data required to process payments and manage subscriptions, and such information is transmitted securely.
Data Retention: Transaction data (such as invoice records or payment confirmations) is retained for as long as legally required under applicable tax and accounting regulations, even if your account is deleted. All other subscription-related data will be deleted when you cancel your account or request erasure.
Legal Basis for Processing: The processing of payment and billing information is necessary for the performance of our contract with you (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) and for compliance with legal obligations such as tax record-keeping (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR).
Security: All payment information is transmitted via secure encrypted connections. Deeditt does not have access to or store payment card details on its servers.
