A very specific request we received. This is new for us because after a short #winter break, my son started saying that he doesn't want to stay in after-school anymore. I'm not completely sure why 🤔, but he keeps telling us that his brain needs a rest 🧠💭.
During the break, we also spent several days with relatives who are the same age and a bit older 👦👧. It could be that he picked up something from them and the way they spend their time at home, and now he wants something similar for himself, not sure.
Maybe the excitement of new toys plays a part 🎁, or maybe he truly needs some #quiet time. His mum has explained to him that we won't always be able to play with him when he gets home because we're working 💻, and that it might feel boring if he's expecting our full attention.
Usually, he's very happy in after-school care 😊, so this change surprised us. Now we're thinking about what's best for him. We're not trying to keep him away from home — quite the opposite ❤️ — we just want to make sure whatever we choose supports his wellbeing and #development 🌱.
Anyway, the negotiation is now open.
