Vocabulary
What the words mean.
Deeditt uses a small vocabulary of its own — Deeds, Journeys, Memories. This page defines each one, once, so you are never guessing what a word refers to.
Writing
The two units everything else is built from, and the space you write in.
- Deed
- A single real moment, thought, lesson, memory or experience. The smallest unit of storytelling in Deeditt — one thing that happened, written down.
- Journey
- A structured collection of related Deeds that documents a process over time. A Journey is what turns isolated entries into a coherent account of change, learning or growth.
- Memories
- Your private journaling space. Writing, reading and deleting entries in Memories is free on every plan. Memories are private to your account and are never part of a shared or published Journey.
- Reflection
- The act of revisiting experience to extract meaning, context and learning from it. In Deeditt, reflection is the point of writing rather than a feature layered on top of it.
Visibility
Who can see a piece of writing. Set per Deed and per Journey, and changeable after the fact.
- Private Journey
- A Journey kept out of public view, for personal use or limited sharing. It lets you write before deciding whether anything should be seen. Private publishing of Journeys and Deeds is a Pro capability.
- Published Journey
- A Journey whose visibility is set to community or public so people other than the author can read and respond to it. It is a visibility state with a single author, and it is independent of whether a Journey is shared.
- Community-only sharing
- Content available to Deeditt members without being fully public on the open internet. The middle setting between private and public.
- Public sharing
- Content intentionally exposed beyond your private space, discoverable outside Deeditt depending on the visibility state you chose.
Reading and understanding
How writing is found, and what the product does with it afterwards.
- Quiet discovery
- Surfacing relevant writing without popularity contests, ranking by engagement, or an endless feed. Deeditt has no algorithmic timeline.
- Insights
- Your Memories read back at four horizons: week, month, quarter and year. Each one shows a written synthesis of what you lived, the feeling, sleep and energy you recorded, the threads (people, projects, themes) that stay open, and echoes from earlier entries. Insights are a Pro capability, and the analysis is opt-in and switched off on every account until you turn it on.
- AI assistance
- Tools that help you clarify, organise, summarise, search or navigate writing you produced. It does not mean synthetic authorship: Deeditt does not write your entries for you.
- Wisdom
- Practical understanding extracted from real experience and made useful — to you, or to someone who has not lived it yet. It is what a Journey is for.
Two things this vocabulary deliberately does not say. Deeditt is not end-to-end encrypted — entries are encrypted at rest and in transit and are private from other members, but Deeditt generates and holds the keys. And Insights involves external model providers when you switch it on. Both are explained in the privacy policy.
