We gifted our child a toy he really cared about, and one day he brought it to after-school to show it proudly, but when he came back home, the toy was ripped off.

We don’t know exactly what happened, it might have been him, or someone else, and the story behind the fact was confused. It’s always difficult to get clear answers with the little man.

But that’s not the heart of the matter. What matters is this: damaging, stealing, or doing something wrong to what belongs to someone else is never okay — not out of #envy, not as a #joke, not without #consequences.

I spoke to my son and clearly set the #boundaries. Later on, I spoke with the #afterSchool staff too — not to blame, not to ask for punishment, but to remind them, and the children, of something essential:

#Respect for others and for what belongs to them must always be clear.”

#Justice isn’t always immediate, but the message must be. #Sharing is good, #curiosity is natural but harming or taking what isn’t yours? Never.

What would you do?
